Anna M. Sample House

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley’s Anna M. Sample House Complex has been providing service-enriched emergency housing to women, children, and families experiencing homelessness since 1988. Our longest continuously run program, the Anna M. Sample House has 93-beds and on-site support provided twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Volunteers of America Delaware Valley recognizes homelessness is a disruptive and often traumatic event, and that families with children are uniquely impacted. As such, the professional staff at Anna M. Sample House is highly skilled and trained in mobilizing the resources, services, and supports individuals and families need to re-establish stability and wellness.

In addition to conventional shelter services, the Anna M. Sample House uses comprehensive assessment and strengths-based service planning to assist individuals and families in addressing factors which have caused or complicated their homelessness. Our goal is to ensure individuals and families are not only accessing safe, affordable housing, but also ensure they have the tools and supports necessary to remain stably housed. Between 2016 and 2019, over five-hundred adults and four-hundred-and-thirty children received shelter and support services through the Anna Sample House, and more than four-hundred individuals left the program after securing permanent housing.
