St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart

St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart is the oldest, continuous organization in the parish. It was established by Father John McCloskey in October 1913 and has served the people of South Camden for more than 100 years. Today it is still a very active organization.

Food Sharing
On the fourth Saturday of the Month from 9:30 AM to 12 Noon, the cafeteria is open for the neighborhood women to come with great dignity and hospitality to gather, pray, share food (coffee, tea, cake, fruit, etc.), and pick up a bag of groceries. Not just an ordinary bag of groceries but one filled with blessings and hope!

Clothes from the Heart Thrift Store
Our St. Vincent De Paul Society operates a thrift store for children’s clothes located at 1811 Broadway, just a few doors from Sacred Heart Church. The store is open Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Dinners at Joe's Place
A monthly dinner for the neighborhood poor people is sponsored at Joe’s Place located at 1716 Broadway. A space developed by Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in memory of COO Joseph Pacera – therefore, the name “Joe’s Place.” The space seats 40 people comfortably and we usually have at least two servings so approximately 80 – 100 people are fed monthly in a very hospitable, warm manner. No soup kitchen here.

Prison Ministry
St. Vincent De Paul at Sacred Heart has an active Prison Ministry for the prisoner at the nearby Camden County Jail.  The group visits weekly with the men in the jail, talking, listening, and sharing the Word of God.
