Music therapy is the prescribed use of music as a tool in assisting a client to achieve non-music-related goals. It is a well-established allied health modality such as physical therapy, speech therapy, or occupational therapy. Music therapists utilize the unique characteristics/attributes of sound and rhythm to assist clients in attaining behavioral and educational goals.

Lehigh Valley-based Music Therapy Associates, LLC was established in 1990 by Director, Kathy Purcell, MT-BC. After years of providing in-home and on-site services, MTA became the premier provider of music therapy services in the greater Lehigh Valley area, including Philadelphia, Kutztown, Reading, Poconos, and Western New Jersey. Recognizing the varied needs of the area clientele, MTA expanded in 2018 and created its sister branch Art Therapy Associates. Shortly after, the two were formally joined under the Therapeutic Arts Group umbrella.?

Now with over 30 board-certified music therapists and art therapists, TAG is committed to finding the perfect client-therapist pairing in order to ensure client comfort, time and location flexibility, as well as the best therapeutic outcome possible. 

The team at Therapeutic Arts Group places great emphasis on collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals including speech therapists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. In addition to standard music therapy and art therapy services, TAG also offers rehabilitation services to clients recovering from neurologic disorders including stroke, Parkinson's, dementia, and brain injuries, as well as performance-based and interactive experiences for conferences, festivals, birthday parties, family reunions, and special events.
