I'm FREE – Females Reentering Empowering Each Other
Empowering Women and Girls Since 2011
Founded in 2011, I'm FREE (Females Reentering Empowering Each Other) is a New Jersey-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls through trauma- and gender-responsive reentry support, healing, prevention, and leadership development.
Our mission is to help women successfully rebuild their lives after incarceration while equipping girls and young women with the confidence, resilience, leadership, and life skills needed to make healthy choices and thrive.
Over the past 15 years, I'm FREE has supported more than 650 women through peer support, trauma-responsive programming, psychoeducation, case management, and collaborative community partnerships that promote dignity, healing, and empowerment. Today, the organization serves women, girls, and families throughout Camden County, South Jersey, the Philadelphia region, Delaware, and surrounding communities.
Our programs provide a continuum of support, from prevention and leadership development for girls to reintegration, healing, and long-term support for women impacted by incarceration.
Transforming One Woman at a Time (T1W): Reintegration Support
An eight-week pre-release program offered in prisons, jails, and community corrections that prepares women for successful reentry. Participants develop essential life, social, emotional wellness, and career readiness skills while creating practical plans for a successful transition back into their communities.
I'm FREE Alumni Network
Women who complete Transforming One Woman at a Time continue receiving encouragement and support throughout incarceration and after release through peer support, coaching, empowerment workshops, referrals, court support, and one-on-one guidance that promotes long-term successful reintegration.
FREE to Heal: A Trauma Healing Journey
A 12-session healing program where women address trauma, stress, and reentry challenges in a safe, supportive environment. Through psychoeducation, expressive arts, mindfulness, storytelling, movement, and peer support, participants strengthen emotional wellness, resilience, self-awareness, and personal growth.
FREE to Be – Empowerment & Wellness (Girls & Young Women Ages 10–21)
A trauma- and gender-responsive empowerment program that helps girls and young women build confidence, resilience, leadership, emotional wellness, and healthy relationships. Through structured peer support circles and evidence-informed social-emotional learning, participants develop the skills needed to navigate challenges, make healthy decisions, strengthen positive relationships, and reach their full potential.
Girls UNITED – Prevention & Leadership (Girls Ages 9–12)
An early intervention program that builds self-esteem, emotional wellness, communication, leadership, and healthy decision-making through interactive activities focused on kindness, bullying prevention, cyber safety, body confidence, and positive relationships. Girls UNITED encourages resilience, self-advocacy, and meaningful connections with family, peers, and the community.
Our Approach
Every I'm FREE program is grounded in trauma-responsive, gender-responsive, healing-centered, and strength-based practices that recognize each participant's unique experiences while building upon her strengths. We believe lasting change occurs when individuals feel safe, seen, supported, and empowered.
Whether supporting a young girl discovering her voice, a teenager preparing for her future, or a woman rebuilding her life after incarceration, our commitment remains the same: to provide compassionate support, practical tools, and meaningful opportunities that foster healing, resilience, confidence, and lasting success.
